Matan Mittwoch
Israeli, b. 1982 in Tel Aviv, based in Tel Aviv.
Matan Mittwoch is interested by the image in the post photographical era. He appropriates digital technologies and digital images and materializes them on the analog surface of large format prints. The use of HD cameras enables him to capture what the eye cannot see. In his Blinds series, he approaches a macro lens to the white screen of an iPad, unveiling the pixels chromatic power. These optical transcriptions and enlargements give birth to enigmatic and hypnotic abstract weavings of lines or grids.
Matan holds a MFA from Bezalel Academy of Art & Design, Tel Aviv.
